Priority Date (date of filing)

The priority date of an applicant is one of the first information to be inspected when applying for a change at a given time. The date of filing of an application is known as the priority period. The date is important to determine if an individual is considered for applying to get an adjustment or not. Referring to the actual date, USCIS acknowledges the reception of an application works well for certain family-oriented immigration and employment-based petitions. With the priority date, it is easy to know if a visa will become accessible by a prospective immigrant. It is a process that helps to determine the immigrant’s position in the visa proceeding. For the EB-5 category, the current priority dates are available to all countries except for individuals born in China’s mainland.
