Alejandro Mayorkas has been confirmed as the new secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security.
Experts consider him knowledgeable about the EB-5 program, and it is predicted that his appointment will result in faster application processing times and greater professionalism in the administration of immigrant investor visas.
His previous roles in Homeland Security were as director of USCIS from 2009 to 2013 and as deputy director of Homeland Security from 2013 to 2016, both under the Obama administration.
