At last the US Congress has reauthorized the EB-5 regional center visa program, with a higher minimum amount of $800,000 for new investments in TEAs or infrastructure projects and a higher minimum investment of $1,050,000 in non-TEAs. These amounts will hold until 2027, at which point Congress will raise minimum investment amounts every five years. The reauthorization of the program should come as a relief to the 80,000 EB-5 regional center investors whose money and visa applications were held in limbo since the program lapsed in June 2021. The EB-5 program has become particularly popular among Indians seeking green cards, since it takes far longer to receive a green card under H-1B and other employment-based visas.
