In this interview with Samir Jain, the Mumbai-based senior director of LCR Capital Partners, Jain discusses the benefits of the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Visa.
The visa requires making an investment of $900,000 or $1,800,000 in a USCIS-approved project that will provide jobs for at least 10 US workers, and then, 18 to 20 months after the investment, the investor and his or her family will receive green cards allowing for permanent residency in the US.
Jain focuses on the educational benefits of the EB-5 visa, including domestic college and university tuition rates vastly lower than international rates, access to merit-based scholarships targeted at US students, and a four-times-higher likelihood of college acceptance (since EB-5 students are not considered international students). Furthermore, students with EB-5 visas are more likely to qualify for internships and full-time jobs than international students without the EB-5.
