Since its creation in 1990, the EB-5 Investor Visa has been an efficient and safe option for immigrants who want to live in the United States permanently and legally. The program allows foreign nationals to invest in projects that create jobs in the United States in exchange for the opportunity to obtain US green cards (and their benefits) for themselves, their spouses, and their unmarried dependents under 21 years old. The EB-5 Visa Program has specific requirements that initially may seem complex, including the available types of investments that enable a successful application. The two main investment types are as follows. One can apply by making a minimum capital investment of $800,000 in a business located in a “targeted employment area” (TEA) or by making a minimum capital investment of $1.05 million in a business located outside of a TEA.
