Brazil’s ultra-wealthy are increasingly allocating capital to illiquid assets, from private jets and luxury real estate to fine art, as part of their long-term wealth planning and succession strategies. Among these, the US EB-5 Immigrant Investor Visa has gained traction as a way to combine portfolio diversification with residency planning for families considering a future move to the United States.
Marcelo Gorenstein, Senior Director, Latin America at LCR Capital Partners, states, “This type of investment (EB-5 visa) is usually made by Brazilians with a net financial worth above R$10 million, though there is growing interest from those with portfolios starting at R$5 million. It is a medium- to long-term strategy, generally tied to plans for a future move to the United States.”
